Merry Meet, Merry Part and Merry Meet Again

All good things must come to an end….even little Winslowshire Festival.  Yes…it is true.

Winslow farm has decided that they are going in a different direction.

We would like to thank ALL of our performers, merchants and of course our hard working cast and crew that made this Festival 10 Classic Renaissance Faires across America : http://www.thedailymeal.com/10-classic-renaissance-faires-across-america (yeah, I am still not believing that either!).

We’d like to personally thank Nourish Lexington, http://www.nourishlexington.com who not only became the one and only Vegetarian food vendor that was fabulous but also was like finding a diamond – plus we now became friends.

We would like to thank ALL of you who came to the festival, whether it was our very first year (yeah, it was small) to the very last year (2011 season).  We would like to thank ALL of the people who have supported us (behind the scenes) like GoBostonCom http://www.gobostoncom.com and others.

We thank all of YOU who have become our friends and family – we were lucky to see some friends from the past (who I never thought I would see again) and meet some new ones every year.

We have other festivals/faires in the works, so other things are coming our way.  I like to think that Winslowshire was my springboard into this new career for both of us.  Without that, we would not have had this many opportunities that have come our way now.

So, Merry Meet, merry part and Merry Meet Again – Fare thee well, Winslowshire, you will always remain sweet in our eyes.

Holiday ideas with Winslowshire Vendors – part II

As you may or may not know, Winslowshire Festival for the Animals had 45 or so vendors last June, and I hope to get to all of them, but for now, here is another list of some ideas that you can get for you or your loved ones for the Holiday season!

1) Antika Nueva (http://www.antikanueva.com) has some unique and wonderful jewelry (all hand made) as well as some great soap (my personal favorite is the Chocolate and Roses, smells so good) and some great goo (yes, goo, trust me it is wonderful stuff! I believe she has an Etsy site so you can probably shop on line and you can get it in time for the Holiday season!

2) If you have someone in your family that likes ink on their bodies (and no, this is not for the wee ones), Art Gecko Tattoos has Gift Certificates http://www.artgeckotattoos.com/ so that can fit nicely into any stocking!

3) Wulfemoon Studios http://wulfemoonstudios.com/ has some great artwork available on tote-bags, post cards, little pictures and regular size pictures of fairy art and more!

4) Our pals at Diddleydeets Scents has some amazing scents and soaps (as well as medieval games too) and they are online at http://www.diddlelydeets.com/index.html – and I think they just had a sale recently so do check them out!

5) Have a garden or know someone that loves gardening?  I suggest getting in contact with our friends from Cornerstone Creations http://www.myspace.com/gargoylepete they have great garden benches, gnomes and mushrooms all made of concrete so it will last them a lifetime!

6) Silver Moon Herbals has some great herbal items for the bath and pampering and they can be found at http://www.silvermoonherbals.com/index.html

7) Now is the time for cloaks!  So many choices for hand painted cloaks from our friends Fairie Tailor http://www.myspace.com/fairietailor or you could find other hand made cloaks (and other items) at Cloak and Dagger (http://www.cloakmaker.com/)

8) I know that The Stone Lady http://thestonelady.net/ has some wonderful readings and will be at First Night Rockport in Rockport, MA so if you are in the local area, I highly suggest you come out to meet her and get a reading!

9) Speaking of readings, you can also get another reading from The Artists Muse http://www.alisonsmagick4.com/ who also makes little heart packets and does natal charts as well!  So fascinating!

10) Going to a masquerade party?  Need a leather masque?  Look no further than our friends who make wonderful masques called BlackSwann Masques http://blackswannmasques.com/ – amazing artisan and craftsman ship that will leave your friends talking about it for months to come!

Don’t forget that some of our performers also have cds for sale and I’m sure that any music lover would love to have one in their stocking or underneath their tree.

Happy Holidays!  I will try to post one more time to be sure I get everyone that vended with us for the 2010 season!

Unique Leather Masques made by BlackSwann Masques

BlackSwann Masques has hand made leather Masques, and each one of them are done with a unique character to them.  They carry all types of masques from party ones to just silly ones.

BlackSwann Masques has a very large pavilion tent that goes to most Renaissance Faires around New England, and they will be vending at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire http://www.ctrenfaire.com which is quickly coming up!

According to the director of Winslowshire, BlackSwann Masques was so happy at Winslowshire that they will consider Winslowshire their home faire!  How great is that!

They currently don’t have a website, but if you are on Facebook, you can go to http:/ /www.facebook.com and then go to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1039558231&v=wall&viewas=590741923&ref=ts is the Facebook page if you would like to become a fan of BlackSwann Masques.

Hickory Arms and Silver Leaf – more vendors that we had

Silverleaf Leather http://silverleaf-leather.tripod.com/was another one of our newer vendors for the 2009 season.  Christopher Goguen makes all handmade leather wares from pouches, bracers and masks among other things.  He also does some piece work while working at Renaissance Faires he vends at.

From his website:

“How To Order

Currently, we are live on site at only a few local Massachusetts and Connecticut faires and events, but our products are available for sale 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on Ebay! Come visit us on Ebay by clicking any of the photos.  If you do not see what you are looking for, email us!  We will be more than happy to do custom work for you to your specifications.  Anything from a special bracelet to a full suit of embossed leather armor!!
Thank you for visiting the temporary home of Silverleaf Leather!
Christopher Goguen
Owner/Craftsman
Silverleaf Leather”
He always answers any questions that you may have, or if you wanted something specific in mind, he could probably work something out for you.
He is also pretty good friends with Mark from Hickory Arms (http;//www.hickoryarms.com) that makes all handmade wooden wasters and of course their ever popular mini marshmallow crossbows.  (Yes, we did buy one for our five year old).  Mark actually talked to Chris about doing Winslowshire, as he had previously came to the 2008 season as one of our first vendors that we had, which we appreciate greatly.

Do make sure you check out their wares, and say hello from the Phinns (that would be us!)
