Amazingly Talented Windborne Duo

If you did come to Winslowshire, then hopefully you got a chance to hear the amazingly talented Windborne Duo. http://www.myspace.com/windborneduo These are two individuals make one unit of music sound awesome and inspiring.

My husband actually bought their CD and it is just acoustically aestically pleasing to your ear (and believe me, I have heard some really great CDs in my time).

Not only are they musically in tune with one another, but they happen to know more than over 300 languages!  I didn’t even know there were so many!  From Italian, to Gaelic, to Croatian, to Russian, to American Folk songs and so on.  These two are just really something to see and watch.

We know that most likely that they will be traveling through Europe (again…) and singing their music in many other Countries…so great for them!

Please do go visit their Myspace page and if you are on Myspace, become their fan…they need as many as they can get!

Get beady with Good Quill Hunting

My good friend Christina does all the amazing bead work from Good Quill Hunting http://www.goodquillhunting.com

Her handiwork is by far the best I’ve ever come across and you can tell that it’s quality made beaded jewelry as well as other items.

She even does classes and give a ways on her blog, and loves to help her friends (me) out by helping them with http on their blog (thanks!).  She was the one that helped me put Winslowshire blog up to it’s current status, and for that I am forever grateful!

She and her partner also took lots of photographs for Winslowshire, which we ended up putting up on our site, and boy did they get a lot of great pictures, including one of me with my flute!

She does sell her beaded jewelry and other items on her Etsy page http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6005454 and she does take PayPal on her own site!  She even has a fan page on Facebook!

They will also be at BeadFiesta (that even sounds fun to write) http://www.beadfiestatheshoppe.com/ so check them out there too!

Be well dressed from Cloak and Dagger

Cloak and Dagger is a clothier that makes great outfits and Renaissance Garb, and have been supporting Winslowshire since 2008. http://www.cloakmaker.com/

You can pretty much find anything you like at Cloak and Dagger, and they do have a warehouse in Ayer, MA and they also have the website (see above) where you can go online and see what they have in stock.

I have bought a few things from them, and I can tell you that it is very well made garb, and if you like a certain piece, and they don’t carry it, I’m sure they could make it for you.

They go from fantasy style Renaissance Garb to theatrical garb as well, so they really don’t limit themselves in what they can do for you!  They will be at CT Renaissance Faire (http://www.ctrenfaire.com ) the last weekend, so do go and check them out!

Please do check out their website and hopefully next year, they will come back to be at Winslowshire!

The Wanderer: Guy Todd the Harpist

If you have been to Renaissance Faires around New England than you must have heard about Guy Todd the wandering Harpist.

Guy Todd is sort of “Elfish” looking with the harp strapped to his chest (yes, I know, it does look like it’s attached or something).  Mike Suss has been protraying himself as Guy Todd the wandering Harpist for over a decade and at many different faires.

Guy Todd knows many different Celtic and old English tunes, and when we’re ready to make a CD, we hope he can be part of it…(hint, hint)

We actually first met him at The Maine Renaissance Faire in Lebanon, ME and became fast friends, and still are good friends with him today.  I believe that he will be performing at The CT Renaissance Faire, but he is still waiting on details so stay tuned.

A Special thank you to Behind The Burlap http://www.behindtheburlap.com for posting some of my stuff on your site, it really means a lot to me.  I appreciate the extra publicity regarding our little Winslowshire.

Unique Leather Masques made by BlackSwann Masques

BlackSwann Masques has hand made leather Masques, and each one of them are done with a unique character to them.  They carry all types of masques from party ones to just silly ones.

BlackSwann Masques has a very large pavilion tent that goes to most Renaissance Faires around New England, and they will be vending at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire http://www.ctrenfaire.com which is quickly coming up!

According to the director of Winslowshire, BlackSwann Masques was so happy at Winslowshire that they will consider Winslowshire their home faire!  How great is that!

They currently don’t have a website, but if you are on Facebook, you can go to http:/ /www.facebook.com and then go to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1039558231&v=wall&viewas=590741923&ref=ts is the Facebook page if you would like to become a fan of BlackSwann Masques.

Let’s get magical with Alchemy

Alchemy is a merchant that sells ritual things, herbal things and jewelry. Their website is  http://magicalalchemy.com/ .

Tisha Harris and her husband are both really wonderful people and can answer any question you may have about what they carry.

They not only go to different Renaissance Faires around New England, but they also will ship right to your door!  They even have a gift registry for those of you who are getting married Pagan style or hand fasted…but they carry other items too, such as lovely jewelry and teas.

For those of you who like to sew (um, that would NOT be me) they also have trim available that you can purchase as well, and they do have pictures up on their site, so you can take a look at it for yourselves.

Please do go to their site and tell them Winslowshire sent you.

Beautiful music from The Harper and The Minstrel

Since Winslowshire started, we were lucky enough to get The Harper and The Minstrel http://www.theharperandtheminstrel.com/home for one day in 2008 and both days for the 2009 season!

Jay Michaels and his wife Abby Michaels have been performing as The Harper and The Minstrel all over New England and beyond since 2002.  We actually met them at the original Maine Renaissance Faire in Lebanon, ME, and then again at The Festival for the Lions in Grafton, MA.

The combination of flute with harp or guitar is very well done, and their voices are a musical interlude of love.
